In case of any fungal infection of hair, skin and nails and for which use of lotions or creams is not providing any fruitful result then the medicine Grifulvin V can be used to treat such fungal infections. The growth of the fungi is stopped after the medicine is consumed. However it should be noted that the medicine does is not to be used for infection that has been caused due to yeast or bacteria.

Dosage and Administration

The bottle is to be shaken before opening and consuming it.  It is to be taken directly by mouth in the proportion that has been fixed by the doctor. Though can be taken at any time, however, it is best consumed after a meal that contains little fat. The dose of the medicine will depend on your medical condition. Usually dose of 500 mg is given to adults with moderate fungal infection. However for fungal infection which is difficult to eradicate the daily dose may be increased to 1 mg too.

Side effects of Grifulvin V

The most common side effects are nausea, flushing, dizziness, headache, sleep problem, numbness, confusion, menstrual irregularities and the likes. If the side effects as stated above persist for long then it is a matter of concern to be reported to doctor immediately.

The use of medicine can also result in problems such as chills, fever, white patches, sores inside lips or mouth, trouble doing daily activity, confusion, upper stomach pain, itching, dark urine, loss of appetite, jaundice, fever, sore throat, swelling on tongue and face, skin pain, burning in your eyes, skin rash and many more. These are serious side effects and should be reported immediately to doctor who might change the medicine or decrease the dose.

• Incase suffering from any liver disease, porphyria, systemic lupus erythematosus then doctor is require to be informed about the same before the medicine can be given.
• In case you are allergic to penicillin, griseofulvin, dyes and some food then it should be mentioned to the doctor.
• If you are trying to conceive or are already pregnant than doctor should be aware of such condition. Same is the case with nursing mothers too.
